Looking for an alternative to Dahua.
Somethin more secure.

Something with the same low price.
Something with the same good image quality.

I wonder a company like that even exists... :)

Hikvision?

Dahua's recent string shows basic competency and communication issues (e.g., Dahua Wiretapping Vulnerability, Dahua New Critical Vulnerability 2019). Hikvision, by itself, has state-ownership issues but no such recent examples like Dahua does.

Outside of those two, Hanwha is the next closest but obviously more expensive.

Somethin more secure. Something with the same low price.

How secure are you talking ? EAP-TLS ? HTTPS ? encrypted authentication ?

If better security was a critical feature requirement then the price wouldn't matter.

You want more secure, then dont use a chinese brand.
You want cheap, then use a chinese brand.

You want a better product for the same price, welcome to middle of the rock and hard place.

Our experience is that they are not more secure. The prices are lower though.

This isn't a knock on anyone. We have done this ourselves but at some point integrators and customers alike need to quit looking for the cheapest solution out there and go with a solution that works for their needs, is secure (well not riddled with holes and keeps up on patches) and reliable.

Cheapest isn't always the best way to go and the most expensive solution isn't necessarily the best path either.

You have to find the middle ground on what works and sell yourself and not the product.

Vivotek is notably more expensive than Hikua. The other points I agree with.

Agreed John- I mistakenly left the asterisk out on Not Expensive*

* Depends on individual's definition of Cheap. Void where Trade prohibited. Your mileage may vary, Shampoo, rinse, repeat...

As for the cyber security built in, there are quite a few CVEs listed for Vivotek in the past 2 years... However, they have to be better designed and response that Hikua...

MAC addresses are not hosted by anyone.

IP addresses are assigned by the user/DHCP server.

Amazon would have nothing to do with this, except for P2P cloud functionality. Of course any Chinese or other OEM can use Amazon's cloud.

It certainly looks like a Uniview camera. The software uses the same name e-station.
